Marketing Your Mental Health Services with a Podcast

marketing podcasting season 2 Dec 11, 2023

In today’s world, stepping up your game as a therapist involves more than just honing your clinical skills. Embracing novel ways of reaching out to potential clients and making impactful connections is equally vital. One effective method is exploring the digital realm of podcasting.

Understanding the Impact of Podcasting:

Our digital age offers many platforms to share our knowledge and services, one of which is podcasting. A podcast is essentially a digital audio or video file series that users can listen to or watch at their convenience. For therapists, podcasting can be a unique way to connect with their audience on a deeper level.

Embracing Podcasting as a Therapist:

Podcasting allows therapists to discuss various subjects, share expert knowledge, and offer listeners some valuable insights about different areas of mental health. Whether it's discussing cases (maintaining confidentiality, of course), sharing new therapy techniques, or exploring the latest developments in mental health, podcasting provides an open platform for communication.

Benefits of Networking and Collaboration:

Enhancing your podcasting experience involves collaboration and networking. In a recent podcast conversation between James Marland, Lisa Mustard, and Steve Bisson, they reveal the importance of joining a network like the S Craft Network. It offers therapists the chance to collaborate, share ideas, and grow together. Lisa Mustard, for instance, reveals how networking has opened incredible doors for her in terms of having fascinating guests on the show and the potential of cross-promotion.

Becoming an Effective Podcaster:

There are keys to successful podcasting. As stated by Steve Bisson, it's about knowing your goal – your reason for starting the podcast, and always keeping it in focus. Furthermore, the content of your podcast is crucial. Guests need to be people whose input you value and who contribute positively to your goal, and content should align with what you believe your audience wants to hear.

Conclusion:

Despite the unexpected turns the journey might entail, the important thing is to persevere. Podcasting requires consistency, authenticity, and a passion for the subject matter. When done right, it can be an exceptional tool for scaling your therapy practice. So, therapists, it might be time to consider adding 'podcaster' to your skill set!
